1783: FIRST TONIC "SCHWEPPES" WITH CHININE
The quinine-containing bark of Cinchona was probably the most valuable remedy that the New World has given us. For centuries this was the only medicine against malaria and is still used today. The isolation, structure determination and total synthesis of quinine were chemical masterpieces.
1886: FIRST "COCA COLA" WITH COCAINE
The cocaine was isolated from dried tea leaves and purified by HPLC chromatography. By 1903, one liter of Coca-Cola contained around 250 milligrams of cocaine. This has helped Coca-Cola with its success and image. In the USA, Coca-Cola is also marketed under the former nickname “Coke”, which also means coke in the sense of heating material, but also stands for cocaine.
1987: FIRST ENERGY DRINK "RED BULL" WITH TAURIN
Taurine became famous as an additive in energy drinks such as Red Bull®: The substance is said to strengthen the effect of the caffeine also contained in the drinks and to help improve performance. The idea for drinks containing taurine came from Japan, where they were given to Japanese pilots to increase their performance after World War II.
2018: THE FIRST HEMP SOFT DRINKS "CANLIFE" - WITH KUSH TERPENS
Cannabis not only impresses with its cannabinoids, but also with its aromatic smell. We extracted the terpenes that are responsible for this from the hemp plant using a special process and combined them in our hemp lemonade "Lemon Kush" and our "Kush Kola" to create these unique new beverage variations. We all know terpenes as the main constituent of essential oils and, comparable to aromatherapy, they also develop their effects in our CanLife beverages.
